Xunantunich (Maiden of the Rocks in Mopan and Yucatec Maya)

The site is a Late and Terminal Classic Maya center first explored by Thomas Gann in the 1890s in the then British Colony of British Honduras, now Belize.

A site of importance,contains four main Plazas, to which the “El Castillo”, Structure A-6 stands tall at some 130 feet, burials revealing many sacred artifacts.

Exposed is a band of Frieze that today are located on the final stages of the construction depicting many things.
Nestled along the Mopan River, overlooking the bordering department of Melchor de Menchos, Guatemala.
